When I first started painting, I painted for myself. I needed an outlet after suffering a miscarriage, something to get me out of bed and motivate me. I'm thankful I found art and oil painting. I feel that it literally saved my life, giving me hope and I love the impact it has on people. Seeing people's reaction to my paintings inspired me to paint for others. In a world where there is so much division and trouble, I hope to bring beauty back in to the world, one painting at a time.
My work is a combination of classical meets impressionism. Being classically trained, I was all about detail and 3 dimensionality. And now, I think paintings should look painterly, a cross between a photograph and art with brush strokes and textures. That sets paintings and photographs apart, photographs do not have brush strokes and textures, but a painting does. That is the beauty of putting a great painting on your wall, it should pop!
Although I haven't been in the art industry for a very long time, every work I produce has heart in it. I believe that art can speak and it should move the viewer and make a difference. Commissioning a painting is like a journey, you get to see the beginning and the end, a new creation with a beautiful closure.
